Camp Theme
Created in partnership with the team of the “Réserve Africaine of Sigean”, this camp program has been designed to offer children a real and unique immersion experience in the heart of an exceptional zoo.
It will allow them to discover a wide variety of African and local species, as well as the different professions of the people who care for them with passion and dedication, and bring this remarkable site to life! A Unique and enriching experience!

Activities in the heart of the African Reserve
DAY 1: DISCOVERY OF THE BUSH AND AFRICAN SAVANNA PARKS:
You will leave our holiday center in Leucate first thing in the morning by coach bus to the Reserve Africaine.
On arrival, you will visit of the park by shuttle bus with a professional tour guide. Picnic in the Park (Approx. One hour).
In the afternoon, you will take a guided tour with your group through the park (approx. 2 hours). Your guide who will teach you about all the animals living in the park (zebras, Rhinos, Bears, Lions, Tibetan bears, etc…)

DAY 2 : ACCOMPANIED BY THE RESERVE’S EDUCATIONAL GUIDE
WORKSHOPS:
– « On the Trail of the Secret Animal »: A treasure-hunt-style investigation that will lead you to uncover the truth behind the tracks and clues left by the animals.
– « Africa Awakens your Senses »: with a science educator: a hands-on workshop specially designed for groups of children of different ages, allowing them to discover African wildlife through direct exploration (horns, skulls, feathers, eggs, footprints, moults, etc…).
DAY 3: HALF-DAY ACCOMPANIED BY THE RESERVE’S EDUCATIONAL GUIDE
– Workshop « Who Are You, Chimpanzee? » with a science educator: a fascinating activity to learn all about our closest relative, the Chimpanzee, and explore the similarities between humans and great apes.
During this camp session you will also learn:
– The Classification of the animals: Learn to recognize, identify, and classify each animal,
– The different species: Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Fish, Amphibians,
– Reproduction: Animals and their offspring.
– Picnic in the Park.
– Learn about the various diets of the animals
– Examine the types of teeth for eating, grazing and biting…Who eats who?..who eats what?
– Feeding of the animals: The Carnivores, Herbivores and Omnivores!
Other Activities
– Walks in the Guarrigues and sensory discovery games
– Coastal Bird Observation (with a representative from the Bird Protection League): You will meet migratory and resident birds, observing them through spotting scopes and binoculars. You will also explore the coastal ecosystem, the seashore, lagoon, and Mediterranean scrubland.
– Sports Games – The Leucate Olympics! Fun and friendly team challenges inspired by the Olympic Games
– Evening under the Stars: Stories and legends of the sea
– Swimming at the Leucate’s supervised Beach
– Team sports, Big Games, and Parties!
Choice of Field Trips

– Hiking trips on the « Leucatois Plateau »: On this classified nature reserve (Natura 2000) overlooking the sea…a big breath of fresh air!
– Visit to the Leucate Coast guard station.
In the French Mediterranean Sea, there are 19 stations used by the Navy to supervise air and sea activity (surveillance mission). The station of Leucate dominates a magnificent cliff; from there the children will be able to view the entire coast!
Camp Location: « CENTRE DE VACANCES DE LEUCATE »
3 buildings surrounded by 170 acres of land, offering rooms with 5 to 6 beds with shower facilities on each level (2 stories high).
A large dining-room divided in 3 areas (per age groups), 6 activity rooms, a showroom and a small library as well as a circus tent and several playgrounds are there for the children to enjoy. …For more details Click here
